Is it just me or does a real Telecaster sound nothing like this?

The Telecaster sounds great in the movie, but the one I got at home sounds nothing like it. Mine sounds much thinner. Maybe I'm playing it wrong

Your effects chain and amp setup have everything to do with how your guitar sounds. The movie guitar is obviously not just bare-amped.

I know what you mean, I have a telecaster as well. I think they had a really serious one though, probably one from the fifties, and as the other fellow said, they probably set it's tone very exactly. But yeah, I wish mine sounded like that too.

I have a telecaster from the sixties with a rosewood fingerboard and it doesn't sound like that either. Also, in the film Eugene's guitar has a maple fingerboard so I guess, it's from the fifties. Later models have rosewood fingerboard.

Kinda reminds me of Ted Nugent having his amps hotwired like Eddie Van Halen's so he could sound like Eddie. He said it strangely ended up sounding alot like Ted Nugent playing through Eddie's amp.

The Telecaster was dubbed by Ry Cooder's CooderCaster, if you look it up it has these unique looking pickups in it that makes that rich sound that you hear.
