"sunset strip" is decent, but if you were gonna see that you might as well just watch "Almost Famous". susnset strip has more to do with guitar, though.

Yeah well, that's just, ya know, like, your opinion, man.

If you watch Wayne's World again, guitars are a pretty major theme.

I'd throw "Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny" in as a guitar movie. Just make sure you're altered when you watch it :)

School of Rock, also w/Jack Black

reply

No kidding...Sweet and Lowdown is a great film. Might be the only Woody Allen film I can stand...

and Penn nails that performance...

If you can find this movie you will be lucky, this is the link of IMDB:

It's about a guy who makes a deal with the devil and play guitar like a "virtuoso", this is not the best movie ever made, but had some real good scenes, one of them is a guitar solo playing with two guitars righ/left handed....really cool!!!
Good Luck!!!

The only scene from a movie that gets me goin' like the Crossroads duel is Michael J. Fox in, "Back To The Future" blowing the crowd away at the high school dance. If time travel ever became my reality that is exactly what I would do - go to some 1950's stage and rip out some Van Halen on their asses!

Speaking of Michael J. Fox ...

Light of Day

More movies featuring guitar music ...

Purple Rain
Walk the Line
Honkeytonk Man
Desperado
Roadhouse (Tito & Tarantula & Jeff Healy Band)

O Brother Where Art Thou? (has a Robert Johnson like character)

trivia: The character of Tommy Johnson is based on famed blues guitarist of the same name who, according to folk legend, sold his soul to the Devil at the crossroads in exchange for his prodigious talent. Robert Johnson, another bluesman and a contemporary of Tommy's (but no relation), borrowed the legend and wrote a song about it (and so the soul-selling legend was subsequently, wrongly, attributed to Robert Johnson).

Six-String Samurai.

"Rock Star" with Mark Wahlberg is quite the ticket for good old-fashioned hair metal. It's somewhat based on the tale of Ripper Owens, the Judas Priest cover band singer that replaced Rob Halford when he "left" Priest. Great movie.

Thunder Alley (1985). Hokey but fun movie.

August Rush has some acoustic guitar slapping

This is Spinal Tap.

Listen to the sustain.

Nigel drags a violin across his guitar.

In Big Bottom everyone plays bass.

Spinal Tap should be required viewing for anyone into rock and roll.
