Clothing

Did they only have one dress? They wear the exact same outfit for the whole movie. It was so annoying to me - especially the denim jacket Jessica Lang never took off!

Yeah, and remember that scene, Sissy Spacek is fanning herself on the porch and Diane Keaton was wearing that old lady, ripped sweater??? WTF was that about???

the costumes are superb. arrrhh what a brilliant movie.

Meg wore the same dress because she went back to Hazelhurst with nothing. All she had was her purse with her when she got off the bus. The course of the film was only 3 or 4 days. Not that it's cool to wear the same clothes of that long...

I read somewhere that during filming Jessica Lange was several months pregnant and showing; so she kept the jacket on to hide the baby bump.

No, no..."cruelty." I always think that has a nobler ring to it.

Its been years since I saw this movie, but in the play, the events take place in a 24 hour period, in which noone ever actually gets to bed - its plausable that they would never change.

IN the movie, the story takes place over a two night, three day period, and yes, As Meg describes in her story to Doc, she couldn't sing, lost and job, lost everything, went nuts and tried to shove all her belongings in a March of Dimes box, so it was her only dress.

Lange BTW had just given birth to her second child prior to filming. Many years later, she said she loved working with Sissy and Diane, but wasn't pleased with her preformance for she wasn't focused as a result of going back to work so soon after having her son.
