I was there!

I was at the resort when they filmed this movie. At first the guests were excited that they would be filming a movie! Within a day or two, we realized it was not a good thing. The production got in the way of everything (you had to take round trips to get from point “a” to point “b” because they were blocking all routes). If you wanted to watch the filming for a few minutes you were then told you had to stay for hours or you’d ruin the production. By the fourth day the producers had to give out prizes and beads and liquor to get people to participate. I appeared in two of the scenes. The second one I was pretty liquored up when the camera came by (which is fine – I looked like I was having a real good time). At the time of the filming I hadn’t heard of anyone in the cast but Patrick Macnee (and maybe Sinbad). Of course later I’d be a fan of Terminator and wished I’d spoken to Linda Hamilton.

A couple years later I went back to the same Club Med and on the bus ride in to the resort a loud mouth fellow was announcing how he knew everything about the Club because he’d seen this movie. He said next we’d take a boat ride to get to the Club. I told him quietly that there was no boat ride to the Club; that was made up in the movie. He argued with me, adamantly saying I was wrong… right up until the time the bus came to stop in front of the Club.

I had taped this show off the TV many years back but when I did a wholesale toss-out of video tapes this got into the mix by accident. I’ve been heartbroken that it was never released in any format. Maybe some day.

There should be a cable channel devoted strictly to Made for TV movies . . . . special emphasis on Telefilms made in the 1970's and 80's.
