I'm pretty sure it was filmed partly in Arizona...I know I read about that somewhere.

Sorry, not a bit filmed in Arizona.

The better part of the film was shot in New Jersey, mostly as close as possible to NYC. The school interiors were shot inside a closed catholic school (go figure), not sure about the exteriors, I wasn't on set for any of those days but it could well have been in Mamaroneck.

A lot of the scenes were shot in or around a house that Lloyd owned at the time in Jersey City, right near the Pavonia stop on the PATH train. These included the shots of Dewey melting (it was a test shoot, before principal photography started, shot in the driveway), the school basement scenes, the frat party exterior, and the scene where Warren and Chrissy finally get down. The scene where Spike and Pete beat down the old lady and the fight with Warren was right close by. Also, the power plant models were shot there, as well as serving as the headquarters for the art department during the shoot. Place got a lot of use.

I believe the final scene was also in Jersey City, taking advantage of a building demolition that was going on.

All the power plant scenes were shot at a waste treatment facility in Connecticut. The scenes in the school lab were shot in their testing lab as well. I'm pretty sure that the house we used for the interiors of Warren and Chrissy's places was in Connecticut.

The frat party was shot at some club on Long Island, the name escapes me though. I missed that shoot, too. But jeez, what a monumentally hung over cast and crew the next day...

I know at least one scene was filmed at Annunciation Church School in Paramus, NJ, because I was present during the filming.

Most of it was filmed in Stamford, CT, including the High School scenes and the water treatment plant. There was some press surrounding it because the town enticed the producers to move up to New England and get cuts in taxes. There's a NY Times article on it from 27 April 1986 that talks at length about it if anyone's really that interested (I'm writing my thesis paper on DtV business during the 1980s and the trends that are continuing on today).

imdb.com lists the filming locations as:

Annunciation Church School, 49 Demarest Road, Paramus, New Jersey (Tromaville High School exterior scenes)

Jersey City, New Jersey (Alka Seltzer beating and hospital scenes)

Rye Neck High School, 300 Hornidge Road, Mamaroneck, New York (Tromaville High School).

I met a woman (in a bar, of course!), yesterday, who claimed to have had a non-speaking role in the movie.

Nuke 'em High was a Catholic High School in Paterson, New Jersey, NJ. How do I know? I was there. I was an extra. You can see me in the scene where the motorcycle drives through the cake and afterwards. I'm the guy who looks like Frank Zappa. It's funny. To film this scene, they put out an open casting call in the local papers and every stage mom and their Brooke Shields wannabe daughter showed up - with absolutely no acting experience whatsoever. I was a professional actor at the time. When the time came to do a 'dry run' all the amateurs giggled and laughed as they ran from the staged carnage. I, being a pro, put on my horror face and acted appropriately. Lloyd Kaufman grabbed me by the shoulders and pulled me out of the crowd. He said to me: "Do what you just did." I re-ran my expression of horror and shock. "See that?" He said. "Do what he just did!"
