I loved this book series By Jean M. Auel. I've read every book through Shelter of Stone.

Me too, several times. I've read Clan of the Cave Bear at least 15 times and I've cried at the end of it every time i've read it. I can't help it, it's so saaaaaad.
They're such brilliant books.

Is there any word as to when the Sixth and final (tear) book will be released???
I know she's writing it, but i was wondering if anyone had some inside info.

No word yet when it will be released but Auel has said there will now be 7 books. There's lots of information here, and it helps the cravings for the 6th book too lol:

I enjoyed reading the series a long time ago and remember the details of the story well. It's surprising, or perhaps not, how many books you read that are completely forgotten after a while.
So now I'm wondering how much sense this film makes to viewers who've not read the books?

The film is what originally interested me in the book. Been a long time since I read it but while the book is significantly better, enough of the story was there for the movie to make sense. It is a well written book and deserves to be read again, the movie I am not so certain of.
