The Mammoth Hunters goof

So I just finished The Mammoth Hunters for like the umpteenth time (pausing to sob my eyes out when Ayla has to say goodbye to Baby for the last time of course), and there was something, insignificant in the larger scheme of things but interesting that Auel would make the mistake, that bothered me.

I know it doesn't matter, but I'm a nitpicker that likes things to be orderly and smoothly continual. The circumstance of Ayla discovering the power of the firestones was slightly shifter for crying out loud, would it have been so hard to keep at least that continual?

So, Deegie and Tarneg, as brother and sister, were wanting to set up their own Camp. Why would it be named Aurochs Camp? The name of the Hearth follows the woman, and the Camp is named after the male leader. Deegie was from the Aurochs hearth, but when Tarneg mated he would have taken his mates hearth and the Camp should have been named after it.

I have read the Australian and the North American versions of the books and am wondering if anyone has a version where this is a little more clear.

I need to re-read it, but maybe they referred to it as Aurochs Camp for ease. I don't think they knew whose hearth Tarneg would mate into yet, so instead of calling it "Deegie and Tarneg's camp", they used "Aurochs Camp".

Zombies are supposed to be slow. They're scarier that way. :)
