Like William Hurt's character I'm in a relationship with a Hard of Hearing woman but she grew up in the deaf community. I also have a HH Step Bro and 2 deaf step sisters.

One of my really good girl friends is dating a guy who is deaf.
She learned sign language to communicate with him and they fell for each other.
They're adorable together.
I'm half deaf and know some ASL because I had a deaf friend in HS and his teacher taught a class. So a friend thought it would be a great idea to set me up on a blind date with a deaf friend of hers. I was going to take her out to the art theater with all subtitled French movies and then have ice cream. But she would never come out of her apartment.
