This movie has some seriously messed-up subtext.

So Darkheart is this evil demon or the devil or something evil and magical at any rate. He kills the little girl and begs the care bears to help him bring her back quote "you have to help me bring her back from where I sent her!" implying he not only killed her, but knows where her soul went after she died. the carebears then chant "we care" getting Darkheart to join in and bring her back from the dead. Dark Heart then decides to remain as a human boy to stay with her, but seemingly keeps all of his knowledge from his time as Darkheart. Man, looking back on it, that is some dark stuff right there. I haven't actually seen the movie since I was kid but I remembered that pretty vividly, but if I got any details wrong feel free to correct me.

You've got all the details correct. I've never thought about it being so dark before but everything you said makes a lot of sense. I personally never thought of Christy as being "dead", just being sent someplace bad, but now I wonder why I never thought of her as dead. Probably because if she was dead then chanting "We care" wouldn't do any good. Either way, still dark.

Yup, kinda dark for a Carebears movie. Then again most 80's and 90's cartoons had messed up stuff in them too.

^This^ is what makes this movie better than the first one, in my opinion. The first one was only about learning to make friends and things, this one was had demonic possession. 😈

So this is why my mother liked this movie and wanted to tape it!! I knew there was a reason she was watching it with a drink when we came home from school!!

Death and reincarnation

this is a pretty good movie

If the confusing non-camp stuff was taken out at the very beginning it would be great.
