Seeing this for the first time I was struck by how similar some of the scenes were to REM's video for losing my religion. Was this film a direct influence on the video?

losing my religion was directed by tarsem,the director of "the fall"and "the cell"

I think it was inspired by different artists. You can clearly see a Saint Sebastian, which was, if I remember correctly nevver a subject of Cravaggios paintings. But the young boy with he fruits could've been taken from one of Caravaggio's.
