Oh and why do you disagree? A little too much violence for your liking? Hey if you want to watch Mary Poppins thats fine with me but you don't see me trashing it but here you come and trample over movies that are for guys who like graphic violence and watching stuff getting blown up and cute little blonds with nice jugs. Don't like it? Don't watch it and don't come here and put it down! Can't stand people like you who do that all the time!

I always loved this film after seeing it on Showtime (or hbo) in the 80's. In fact right at this very moment while I am writing this, I am transferrng the laserdisc version over to dvd. I am aware this had a budget dvd release here in the US and the encoding on it shows (good source, but bad authoring job), so I am making a better looking disc than that budget crap

It made no sense that an entire town just did not shoot all of the Cullen dead and get them out of the way.

The problem with shooting several people in a civilized country is that you're taking the huge risk of ending up in prison for a couple of decades and thus allowing the redneck bullies to ruin your life. The Sheriff was obviously in the pocket of the Cullens, so going to the "authorities" was no answer. Hence they just put up with the gross bullying since they evidently didn't want to move out of the area.

Physically speaking, the best the mild-mannered men of the town could've done was to team-up against the Cullens whenever they came to town to persecute someone; that is, team-up in the sense of fist-fighting, not using guns. For instance, 4-5 of the town guys against 1-2 of the siblings, which would make things about even.
