Eugene's Dad

I loved the character of Eugene's Dad and how all the members of the family seemed to be terrified of him and how all decisions regarding family matters had to be run by him and could only be done so at the dinner table. I loved the scene Eugene introduced as "The Infamous Dinner" where everyone is trying to figure out how to talk to Dad about the various things they need to discuss and who should bring up the subject and so forth. And no matter how terrified they were of discussing things with Dad, his reaction was hardly ever the explosive blow-up they all anticipated. And Bob Dishy, one of our greatest character actors, was perfection as Eugene's Dad.

His dad is very interesting, especially in the sequence where he tells Stan that he isn't so perfect himself. Of course, later in the trilogy he ends up leaving Kate and remarrying.

Bob Dishy is wonderful in this. He's one of the all time best character actors.
