It was actually 1984
I doubt that anyone will ever even read this minor bit of trivial trivia, but the fact is that while "The Boy in Blue" has a 1986 release date on it, it was really shot in the summer of 1984. For the fanatic fans of Nicholas Cage, that actually freezes him in time here at all of 20 years old and not 22. I was in Gravenhurst, Ontario at the time they were filming the scenes with the RMS Segwun, the old white steamship they used in the flick. There was always the same question: "Who's starring in this movie?" Always the same answer .... "Nicholas Cage".... and always the same reaction "....Ummmm, WHOOOOOOO?????". And lucky me! Back then I had the "thrill" of personally being invited by the film's director to leave his precious little set that I had so rudely trespassed upon! I had wandered down to the wharf to see the ship as I had done every summer for most of my (then) 21 years. Heck, it seemed to be a day off of filming as there was nothing going on and no one in sight. No stars, no crew. Not even any armed storm-trooper guards or rent-a-cop equivilents. Just this ego monster who acted like I had just breached the perimeter of the next Citizen Kane! IMHO, it was HE who was trespassing!!!! Anyway, that guy's loooong gone and I've been back every year since. He's NOT missed!
