DVD commentary

I have to say that normally DVD commentaries are pretty dull. But the idea of uniting Lucy, Jay and Fred together was brilliant! I really enjoyed listening to everything they had to say... they were all so entertaining. My hats off! Great commentary! Loved it!
The weirdest thing is... the day after I watched the DVD for the first time, I see Jay on the Advil Commercial. Woah!!!

That is cool - I didn't know they brought them together for the DVD.

But, I know they did the same thing for the Goonies DVD. You even got to see all the "kids" today, and it's fun hearing all of the stories from all of the actors.

I guess I'll have to check out the DVD for this one too -

Omfg I had no idea the got Lucy/Jay/Fred together for the commentary? Wow! I can't wait to see this. I really love this film, it's one of those immortal 80's classics. The commentary for THE GOONIES was also incredible, it was such fun to sit with them all whilst the remember old stories from the shoot. I think that's my favourite commentary, I think I almost wept lol. I dunno where they are selling this DVD in Australia but I'm so hanging to find out where.

One thing tho... I still love this movie but I must admit I think it kinda sends a negative message out a little. I'm just worried about kids throwing themselves off roofs lol, kids are encouragable and it could accidentally encourage them to do that? I still love it but geeze, do you think any kids actually tried to fly?

How old roughly were they all when they did the commentary?
As usual I won't be able to view the DVD because it's in Region 1 only - which sucks!! :(

Whenever the DVD came out... 2003... then probably the commentary was done in 2002... GREAT STUFF!

could you tell us some of the things they said during the commentary ?

reply

It sounds like they're all still good friends and enjoy each other's company. I will say, however, that Jay seems to take charge and leads the others down memory lane. I don't mind it when it conjures a great anecdote or reaction from the others, but at other times I wish they others would speak up a bit more. Apparently they tried to get Bonnie Bedilia involved, too, but she couldn't make it.

I am trying to track down a dvd that has the special feature of the commentary, but all the dvds that I am looking at does not mention any commentary. Which verison of it do you have? Thanks!

reply

the one on Amazon doesn't mention the commentary or the theatrical trailer... however the cover of the dvd looks the same. i think the dvd only had one release so i'd bet the Amazon one is it.

Where can I get this movie on Dvd?

reply

The commentary is quite good.

Jay Underwood: Just Awesome

Lucy Deakins: Sweet, but a bit reserved.

Fred Savage: Lavish praise on everything

Nick Castle: Doesn't say a whole lot, but when he does speak, it's fairly interesting.
