Akin to Twin Peaks

I recently saw this movie after a massive Twin Peaks marathon, and I can say with considerable ease that I new where much of the inspiration came from. There are so many elements in Twin Peaks that are pulled from Blue Velvet in some shape or form whether it be specific actors and musicians or archetypes and storylines.

Lumberton is a small town with a lumber industry.
Twin Peaks is a small town with a lumber industry.

Kyle MacLachlan investigates a kidnapping as Jeffrey Beaumont.
Kyle MacLachlan investigates a murder as Agent Dale Cooper

Angelo Badalmenti and Julee Cruise provide the musical elements for both.

Dennis Hopper is Frank Booth, a psychopathic sex hound.
Frank Silva is BOB, a psychopathic sex hound.

Add your observations as well.

There is little doubt that one can see very strong Blue Velvet influences in Twin Peaks. It's as if Lumberton and Twin Peaks were twin related towns.🐭

Add Windom Earle to them. He's not exactly a sex hound , but Kenneth Welsh's performance reminded me of Dennis Hopper in BV.

Yes these two complete each other. After I watched TP I understand BV much better and feel closer to it.

I was a fan of Twin Peaks, but had never seen this movie for some reason until yesterday.

Now Agent Coopers' whole rock throwing scene makes more sense to me.

I understand. Thank you for telling me. -The masked bandit
