a theory about blue velvet

I have an idea about why this movie has so much rage in it. I'm mostly just talking about Frank and how he was an extremely angry and disturbed individual. Could Frank be a manifestation of David Lynch's anger over his horrible experience with shooting Dune? Like he was so disgusted and disturbed by the experience of shooting Dune that he had to get it all off of his chest and Frank was born from that. This is just an idea I had last night while watching Blue Velvet, curious what other people think.

Then why would he get De Laurentiis to produce Blue Velvet?

IDK. Sounds far fetched.

I agree with clockwork on this.

De Larentis really wanted to still work with Lynch after Dune and offered to produce his next film for whatever he chose it to be. The only way Lynch would agree to this was if he had final cut and the masterpiece known as Blue Velvet was the outcome of this all.

You got things backwards.
Lynch needed Dino alot more than he needed him.
The only way Blue Velvet got made was because Lynch agreed to a salary cut.
It was in fact the smallest picture Dino produced that year.

I'm not too sure if I buy it, but it's a nice thought and I kind of hope that it is true.
