I REALLY wanted them to...

Have a sexy lesbian experience together...could have added tension, motives could have come into question, extra drama...
Am i being a perv or might that have improved this fim
Im seriously asking (and ok...maybe a bit of a perv)
What do you think??

The director once said: “If I had been making the film in France, those two women would have completely been in love with each other. As it is, we got as close as we could to what would be acceptable in an American movie.”

reply

Yes, the French are certainly more open in there depictions of sexuality
We are still pretty prudish here in The States (although bring on the violence, the more the better🙄)

I liked that they didn't (that mean kiss after the wedding & gift was great; shook Alex up!), but that it was heavily implied. I found the sexual tension between Alex and The Black Widow thick throughout, and the "what if?" make me think more than if I actually seen in transpire onscreen (for me, sometimes what isn't seen or said directly is better).
I generally don't go for the phony chastity that the US is all about in filmmaking (apparently many of us Americans bathe and shower with our clothes on and have little to no urges:-), but I'm fine with how things went down a less explicit track in "Black Widow". Anyway, there's always 1990's films such as "Bound" and "Wild Things" to make up for any deficit.

reply

I hear you, sometimes less is more

Bound was excellent btw

reply

Yeah, I agree with you on "Bound".

reply

I agree with you on Wild Things, which also stars Theresa Russell.

Haven't seen it but just going by the title and movie poster it would appear that the two women would be intimate. If it were made now it would definitely happen but they would also ruin it with political agendas.

reply

Ahh...I don't know: maybe it's because back in 1987-'88 I saw the film poster in many grocery stores and video rental establishments and took it for granted, but that's not the vibe I get from the poster. More like a duel between two women, a sinister one (on another note, back in 1988, had my father record the film for me off HBO; he asked if I was sure, probably thinking it didn't seem like a film a normal 10-year-old boy would like, but I did my movie homework and knew what I was getting:-).
