Most favorite moment

What is your most favorite moment in "Big Trouble In Little China"?

For me, it would have to be the moment Lighting makes his final appearance. After Thunder explodes, Lighting shows himself in the hallway with the lighting striking all around him. You can tell he is in an immense rage and indeed will deal with the main characters with extreme pain. And Jack's "We've got a problem" line totally adds to it. The intense build up added in with John Carpenter's absolutely memorable score with this moment has made it stand out to me the most.

When Jack punches Rain in the face twice then nods his head
and Rain is just giving him a mad look.

There are SO many good scenes in this film...

One I always remember is when they're just about to start the big fight at the end, and Jack fires his gun in the air which causes stones to fall on his and knock him out.

Classic.

"You know what a cautious fellow I am..."

reply

"We may be trapped."

Even better with the commentary on, and the slight pause so they can hear the line, followed by Kurt exploding with laughter.

Time to blow

reply

Yeah, that commentary track is boss.

When some wild-eyed, eight-foot-tall maniac grabs your neck, taps the back of your favorite head up against the barroom wall, and he looks you crooked in the eye and he asks you if ya paid your dues, you just stare that big sucker right back in the eye, and you remember what ol' Jack Burton always says at a time like that: "Have ya paid your dues, Jack?" "Yessir, the check is in the mail."

When Kurt Russell speaks this paragraph is one of my favorite moments of the film.

^ That part always cracks me up, I always wondered how long the goons were standing there behind that door waiting.

"Henry Swanson's my name, and excitement's my game!"

That scene. I love Kurt.

Also, a scene in the airport basement parking lot: A car speeds toward Jack and Wang, and both just stand dead still looking right at it for several seconds until Jack tackles Wang out of the way in the last second. Utterly campy and and utterly brilliant.

When Lo Pan appears to get seriously pissed off after Jack runs into him is great as well. Love his facial expression, and the shriek.

This movie pretty much consist solely of great moments, however.

Airport:
Lords of Death member pulls out knife and beating stick
Jack: "What? Where'd you get that?"

reply

Very hard to pick a favorite. Probably the final battle where Jack has lipstick on, and then misses when he first throws the knife at Lo Pan. Greatest hero ever.

reply

My favourite is the deleted/extended version of the scene where Jack gets his knife back only to find everyone already K.Oed

In the extended version, there is a hilarious exchange between the sidekick guy and this MASSIVE henchman.

I loved it !

Jack managing to knock himself out when he fires at the stones overhead.

What do you think this is, a signature? It's a way of life!

That elevator scene on the way to the last battle. So many great expressions at once.

Jack: Know what Jack Burton says at a time like this?
Thunder: Who?
Jack: JACK BURTON. ME.

"A peaceful land. A quiet people."

reply

The expressions after Jack gets his knife and jumps out to help Wang. Only to find out he has taken out everyone. "Time to go."

Come with me if you want to live.

My favorite. LOL
