Is Vister Hayes (Dr. Death) related to former raider Lester Hayes?

I have seen this movies several times since it's release in 1986. One thing that always strikes me is how much Dr. Death (a Bakersfield defensive back) resembles former raiders defensive back Lester Hayes, who played for the raiders from the late 70's through the mid 80's. The resemblance is not so much from facial similarities (hard to tell with a helmet and facemask), but through physical build and the way Dr. Death approaches the line of scrimmage and dangles his arms.

I finally looked up the actor who played Dr. Death and discovered his name is Vister Hayes. This is too much of a coincidence. The movie was released the same year Lester Hayes retired from pro football. Either Vister is related to Lester, or Lester Hayes played the role himself under a stage name. Anyone know for sure?

FWIW, I understand that Herman Edwards (another pro football DB and former head coach of the Kansas City chiefs) had a role in the movie as well.

Since "Hayes" is a fairly common name, I wouldn't bet too much on the relationship angle.
