Robin Williams - RIP and Thank You.

Writing this as I have learned that Robin Williams died today. I know most people do not consider this a great or even good movie but I loved it. Its one of my favorite movies and I thought the two male leads, Russell and Williams, were fantastic. Like the story and the ending. I also love football, and I think the whole idea of a high school team wanting to relive their 'glory' years is authentic.
I find that getting old sucks. Everyday you lose someone else. If not a family member then a star like Robin Williams whom you watched as a young person and felt like you grew up with. It's strange, but "the tears of a clown" is a fact. So many of the people that make us laugh and escape our sadness are actually sad themselves. I hope Robin Williams now has peace and has escaped the pain in this life. And I hope God enjoys a good laugh.

Robin Williams was found unconscious in his home in Tiburon, California at around 11:55 PDT on August 11, 2014. The Marin County Coroner Division suspects the death to be suicide by asphyxia, pending investigation. A forensic examination and postliminary toxicology test is scheduled for August 12, 2014. According to his publicist, Williams was "battling severe depression" in the time before his death, though his publicist would not confirm the reports that the death was suicide.

I share your sentiments on this movie. It is now and always has been one of my all time favorites. I'm sure there are those who hate it, but to each their own. I thought Robin Williams and Kurt Russell were so great in this movie, played brilliantly off each other. I've actually been checking to see if Russell made any mention of Robins passing. Would love to hear what he had to say about it. In real life maybe they couldn't stand each other for all I know, but would like to read some comments anyway. RIP Robin. So sad.

I used to hate it very much, but it's totally grown on me.

I had forgotten all about this film, despite the fact that the coach's line "Are you horny to win!?" has been in my vocabulary for all sporting events since I saw it nearly 30 years ago!

Robin Williams, you are missed.
