I love how Lou is supposed to be such an intimidating tough guy

Like that fat little dwarf Burt Young could intimidate anyone.

I'm happiest...in the saddle.

He also plays a tough guy (Carmine, a loan shark's enforcer) in The Gambler (1974), unless I'm confusing his role with someone else.

You got your mind right, Luke?

What makes someone a tough guy and effective as a street level bodyguard/enforcer is having no reservations about hurting someone else badly nor about doing it first or with little or no provocation.

reply

no, thats what makes someone a thug

Being "tough" has nothing to do with height or weight. Doesn't matter if you're 6' 4", 230 pounds with big biceps and a 10-inch dick, there's an ugly guy 5'6" who can take you out.

A paid goon would be pretty intimidating to a college student who'd never been in a street fight
