Remake

I remember back in 2004, right after Rodney died, I typed Back to School into here. It came up with this movie, but also one with a 2006 release date, starring Cedric the Entertainer as Thorton Melon. This was during the time where alot of old movies or in some cases shows were being remade into movies with all black casts. Soul Plane (Airplane), Who's Your Caddy? (Caddyshack), and The Honeymooners. I love Cedric, but no one could ever replace Rodney. I'm so glad it never got made. The original is a classic all by itself.

Is that Cedric guy or whatever still around??

reply

That sounds epically horrible. I'm glad that never saw the light of day!

"It's Minnie Pearl's murder weapon."

You can't really remake a Rodney Dangerfield movie without remaking Rodney. As far as I know, this is impossible at this point of time, but we'll see. ;)

They're doing wonderful things with holograms these days.

So as usual someone in Hollywood decides to remake a movie, but with a black lead actor/Actress . Jesus Christ WHY?? Look at Uncle Buck with John Candy. Great movie and then it's made into a Tv show with a black lead ( Mike epps) who I think is funny, but the Tv version is nothing like the original. It's just plain horrible. I want to remake ROOTS WITH AN ALL WHITE CAST and see what happens... WE would be deemed racist!

reply

Are you seriously dumb enough to compare the racial sensibilities of Roots with Uncle Buck?

"In this scene, you will gargle with mouthwash! And...action!" 

reply

Oh my god no...Not at all. Why remake a classic tv show like (Honeymooners), with an all black cast? What was or is the purpose of that? For attention? And of course they completely ruined it! Uncle Buck was ruined also. So what I was asking is what if Roots was re-made with an all white cast.. Would the show be able to get the point across? Could a white Actor do as well as lavar Burton? I was simply asking a simple Common Sense question!
