Mary Stuart Masterson

Deserved an Oscar nomination for her performance. Everyone involved in this film was at the top of their game, but she really surprised me. I had never really heard of her until I saw Some Kind of Wonderful, which she was very good in, but she was in a totally different realm here. Very dark and challenging material for someone from a light-hearted John Hughes film.

Penn and Walken also deserved Oscar consideration.

I agree, she was very good, one of the few ray of light in this very dark bleak movie!
Each time i watch this underrated gem i am shocked by her fate in the story!
Great work from everyone involved in this picture.

Mary Stuart Masterson has ALWAYS been kinda under-rated, for some reason. She was EXCELLENT in "Some Kind of Wonderful" ... and very, very good here! I don't know why she has never been more appreciated?

reply

Yes, she was good in it. But I thought she was Molly Ringwald for the whole movie.

reply

Really? I don't think they look much alike, but perhaps it was the red hair. Ringwald has much poutier lips than Masterson, who is actually quite petite.

Your mother must've drank and smoked a lot when she was pregnant with you!

The validity of my answers is highly dependent on the intelligence of the question..or lack thereof.

Looks like a young Casey Anthony.
