Sounds a lot like another famous crime boss named Michael....Michael Corleone. I wonder if they meant to give him a name so similar to the other Michael. If so they should have called him Santino Carlino. Michael Carlino reminded me more of Sonny than Mike. And Lou Brackman reminded me of Tom Hagen.
shareYes, it was decidedly intentional. They dropped every obvious hint in the book that those were the bad guys- just look at the actors involved, a veritable who's who of mob types.
shareI agree. I think part of the storyline should have involved Michael Carlino's brother, Fredo Carlino. The storyline could have had Fredo trying to take over the security guard union and then telling Michael "I'm smart. I can handle things. Not dumb like everybody says. I'm smart and I want respect!" And then Michael could tell him "Fredo, you're nothing to me now. You're not a friend or a brother. When you see our mother, I want to know a day in advance so that I won't be there." And then afterward, Fredo would join forces with the good guys to bring Michael down...LOL.
