Two Interesting things about Annihilator

I am writing about this film as I saw it as a kid, so its sort of one of those things thats engrained in my subconscious.

Anyway:

1) There's lots of 'Terminator' injected into this film:
- the opening car chase is trying (miserably) to mimic the one from Terminator
- the music is practically plagiarising the Terminator score
- the red eyes
- the theme of cyborgs (obviously)
- the psychiatrist from the Terminator films works at the newspaper in Annihilator
- the main girl looks like Linda Hamilton and was obviously cast to resemble her

2) I notice that the photography, and the editing, are particularly bad in this film. The editing, is really really awful. Sometimes it cuts so quickly and so pointlessly from one angle to another. The thing I cant understand is that Michael Chapman who directed the film was an excellent DP, he shot Raging Bull for goodness sake. So how on earth did he allow this to become to shoddily made?
