Universal Pictures Picks Up Anguish

Universal Pictures has picked up Anguish, a pitch by Jake Wade Wall based on the 1987 Spanish horror film, Anguistia.

Variety says Roy Lee and Doug Davison are producing through their Vertigo production company, with Bigas Luna, George Ayoub and Vertigo's Sonny Mallhi executive producing.

The original film, directed by Luna, was a horror-movie-within-a-horror movie. As an audience in a small theater watches a film about an optometrist on a killing spree, a maniac begins killing the moviegoers.

Wall wrote the When a Stranger Calls remake and has also penned The Hitcher for Rogue Pictures and Platinum Dunes and Amusement at Picturehouse.

While they at it why dont they remake XTRO. That movie was terrible when I saw some of it on Sci - Fi cahnnel.

All they can do is f#$% this up. Anybody seen the remake of THE FOG? That sucked ... ANGUISH ( The Remake ) will too.

reply

Yep.

Every horror remake is a disaster it seems, except for The Toolbox Murders.

The only remake I actually have any respect for, probably because of Angela Bettis' superb performance and Tobe Hooper did an excellent job with the film.

Anguish is just fine on its own. I have no idea why anyone would want to remake this.

It's completely BOLLOCKS.

I want to be headbutted by Cillian Murphy. *evil grin*

Except for the Hills Have Eyes, Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead, House of Wax, & The Amittyville Horror, those were some quality, entertaining reworkings in my opinion, but I love Anguish ever since I was a kid so I hope they don't mess it up too much!

I find it hard to believe that Anguish is being remade. I thought that no one but me likes this film. All my friends have been forced to see it and they all think I am insane for being such an enthusiast for this amazing film.

Every so often, as I am drifting off to sleep, my other half will hiss "Feel it, it makes you stong. Feel it, it makes you strong. The spiral...."

Okay, if it's being written by the same guy who wrote the remakes of When a Stranger Calls and The Hitcher, this remake is already doomed to SUCK ASS!!

reply

This film doesn't need a remake; it's fine the way it is.

1,000 mini-bios and I feel like I'm just getting started
