Dark Night Rises Massacre similarities with this film!

Okay, it has been years and years(Couple of decades at least) since I have seen this movie so I may be way off here, but this morning's news about the shootings in a Aurora, Co movie theater reminded me of some of the plot of this movie.

Has anybody seen this recently and do you have a perspective on the story as it could be related to this awful shooting? I'm not saying there is any connection between the two, just a similarity. I remember the one girl going to the bathroom and that was when the guy had trapped the people in the theater and then she goes across the street and is trying to get help.

Any comments, thoughts, clarifications . . ?

I see I'm not the only one who immediately thought of this film today. I came here for the very reason to see if anyone else noitced the similarities. I didn't expect to see any activity though because I don't think this film is very well known.

haha I'm kinda disappointed nobody else posted here, I guess me and you are the only ones who've heard of this movie. With the recent events, I guess that probably rules out this movie ever getting released on DVD though. Or has it been released on DVD? I think it may have now that I think about it, but I think it's out of print now. Strangely enough, I remember when I saw the movie years back one of my thoughts was "I'm surprised something like this has never happened before" movie theaters really a scary place for something like this to happen when ya think about it, a room full of random strangers all trapped in a room in the dark, with all the loonies out there it's a miracle stuff like this doesn't happen more often.

Trust me, guys. Many people have thought about it. ;) They just aren't on IMDb talking about it, for some reason. I'm not sure why. Many of my friends love Anguish and talk on IMDb all the time.

makes watching this film much scarier, the poor people who lost their lives, really sad. :(

I saw this for the first time tonight and while watching it I totally thought of it. My girlfriend was with me and didn't at all. Maybe if she had seen this closer to the time it happened she might have. It did have similarities.

I used to talk about how surprised I was that this film hasn't been remade.

But Aurora wasn't what I had in mind.

I thought the same thing. I was curious why it's never been released on Blu-Ray but perhaps that explains why. I wonder if any conspiracy theorists connect that event with this film as an example of predictive programming.
