Who Else is sad that they dont make movies or cartoons like this Anymore

I mean with all the cgi and all the crap cartoons its sad that there is no more good shows for children on tv today,in fact to me only a few cartoons today can match the shows from the 80s & 90s today & they are Avatar the last airbender, the fairy oddparents, Back at the barnyard, the Mr Men Show, Tak & the power of juju, Yinyangyo, Chaotic, Drake & josh, That so raven & Danny Phantom, Kid vs Kit, Jimmy Two Shoes. the point is that I have two little brothers & they often say that there nothing to watch I know what they mean. I maybe 23 year old but still its sad who else agree

i also agree.. i saw this when i was a really small kid...
im 20 years old.. and even tho im still young the cartoons that i watched were far better than todays.

Im writing this as i hear "somewhere out there" so im a wee bit nostalgic hehe.
I wish i had a time machine and enjoy those moments again, me watching cartoons on the tv.

good times.

I agree... the late 90's and the new millennium brought a loss of innocence for anything nostalgic, kids these days will grow up only to look back and remember...Shrek? And NOTHING Don Bluth or Disney? (Disney died after "Treasure Planet" imo)

It's really a shame.

Just wait until this decade is over. It's all because of this lousy decade. 2010 will bring a new one and better opportunities.
We're in a phase now where we're getting to know our technology and obsessing over it, as well as where we can't have kids movies any more unless they poke fun at things and are light-hearted. I can't think of one serious animated movie at all this decade. Though I'd love to be proven wrong. They're all comedic so that adults will watch them.

Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within was a great scifi flick

Ahahaha....

I laugh in the face of this comment, as things have gotten worse... WAY worse.

Enter into the 2010s... the age of the SJWs. Everything has gone down the crapper.

Maybe the 2020s will be better... or at least, one can hope.

i do miss the old cartoon look that don bluth's movies had
but they take a long time to make
you see the reason why the backgrounds are so beautiful and very different from
the characters is because the backgrounds were painted then the characters
were inked in that takes a long time but you know what? CGI take the same amount
of time if not longer i don't mind Pixar i just miss the don bluth movies

i agree with all of you!! I miss the good old fashioned animation so much!!

reply

Well when I have kids these are the types of movies they're going to be watching. I think that everyone who grew up with them and still loves them should expose their children as much as they can with these great animated movies by renting/buying them.

reply

Yes, I am sad... so very sad!

I for one miss alot of the shows I grew up with; Especially The Disney Afternoon shows Darkwing Duck, Ducktales, Bonkers, and Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers

I just watched this the other day for the first time in years. It felt really good, but I felt saddened at the same time, in a nostalgic sort of way. They truly don't make animations like this anymore. I wish they did.

I've never seen another movie that has the graphics this one does. That big fake mouse at the end still creeps me out with the movements and all. And the sparks and such are so realistic!

Even though I'm only 17 (nearly 18 so i'm from 1994) I also miss the good old movies and cartoons! My parents were awesome enough to tape everything so my siblings and I could enjoy it. This was one of my favorite movies when I was small and I still love to watch it!

Though I must add that there is one new cartoon that brings the old disney feeling back a bit, Phineas and Ferb, in this one everything is possible again and the songs and drawing are as the olden days, I wish they would make more of such shows. I'm really happy that they have been showing reruns of Ducktales, rescue rangers and such out here!

Let's keep our hopes up for the future, they might surprise us and go back to the much beloved old style.

mereli, I know what you imply,I was born july 1989,male and as a kid in the 90s and even early 00s I did not know the preciousness that I was experiencing at the time.Even though CGI animation was around and about already since at least 1995 Toy Story and 1998 Antz,Bugs Life etc, there was still much classic animation such as ''the land before time''(which I think helped inspire Spielberg,as producer,to do Jurassic Park in 1992), pinochio, aladdin, beauty and the beast, little mermaid, lion king - half of these I never saw,and half of them saw only as a small kid(lion king in the cinema for ex),but still,I apparently was effected by animation of the 20th century, even stuff like alice in wonderland(1951) and Popeye cartoons of the 30s and 40s etc, bugs bunny and looney tunes characters from the 30s and 40s and 50s, flintstones/jetsons from the 60s,scooby-doo,hong-kong phooey from the 60s and 70s, of course lots of other stuff from both feature and tv animation of the times before my own birth. I still had the chance to see all this as re-runs in the 90s and early 00s on cartoon network(did not have boomerang in Estonia) and a bit late fox kids starting in mid90s here. Never saw nickelodeon much(i guess it came here only when I was in my early teens) or the disney channel either.
But I recall school days, morning shows like teenage mutant ninja turtles, motorcycle mice from mars and winne the pooh bear on local tv here, with subtitles or dubbed in some cases.Helped me learn English

Also recall Captain planet and the planeteers, x-men(a modern cartoon, but still) from 1992, batman(1992 series), spider-man(1994),iron man, fantastic four, hulk even

then dexters laboratory, courage the cowardly dog,tom and jerry,as violent as it is,and ed,edd and eddy and 2001 samurai jack. After this I recall there was the grim reaper show billy and mandy, beyond this it just became increasingly ''blah'' for me, the 90s still had some magic seemingly, for me.And since 2004 Disney has not had any classic animations except princess and the frog in 2009,so it seems to be cgi for features now,and tv shows mostly feature robotic characters that dont even resemble humans much compared to the 20th century cartoons.

Im glad that as a kid I got to see 30s,40s,50s,60s,70s,80s,90s cartoons before they took it off the air I think in the early 00s.

Good news is,I have not seen most of the disney or other studio films since early childhood or at all,let alone the newer animations.last animation I saw was shrek 2 I think,on tv.

have not seen the 2002 treasure planet,or 2001 atlantis film, disney one. Dinosaur(2000) was a wonderful film from my childhood that i was able to see, reallt magical for me,a bit later I got to see harry potter and lord of the rings in 2002 on VHS tape,so early 00s still had magic for me,but thats a childhood advantage I guess,no need to worry about stuff, just enjoy life.

I have not seen this film probably,at least not consciously,so will check it out eventually, but just wanted to say that I too miss the classic animation, not that I dont like CGI or even some odd-looking animations, but classic ones are reminders of the age of innocence for me.
