How did Ripley survive space near the end?

When Ripley opens the hatch to shoot out the mama xenomorph in space, she opened both doors simultaneously. She's technically in space without any protection, the temperature, lack of atmospheric pressure. Shouldn't she have died right there?

she wasnt in space until the air had finished venting out, which it didnt

reply

No. Because your assertion that she was in space is false.
She was in the airlock.Air was rushing out but the compartment had not fully depressurized. Once the Queen was blown out, she shut the hatch, air was still rushing out right up to when the hatch closed. She was never in vacuum.

And space does not have a temperature. Space is a vacuum. Things in space can be heated from direct sunlight, and radiate it's heat away and freeze. But space itself is not cold or hot. The idea of instantly freezing when exposed to space is one of many false BS beliefs about exposure to space.

Is that you CG? After all these years?

reply

Yup!

reply

But... in space nobody can hear you scream!

reply

There was still air inside the ship

reply

Good question but as others have mentioned she was still ok in the airlock as their was still atmosphere and she closed it immediately.

My question is how did the queen survive in the landing gear area as there’s no atmosphere in that section surely?

reply

We don't know how long the Alien can survive without oxygen or even if it needs it.
