Where was Bishop when the Marines were ambushed?

Bishop is shown on the Sulaco with the crew before they deploy to LV-426, yet he isn’t shown again until he pops up after the drop ship crashes and they regroup back at HQ. Where was he during the ambush/APC rescue?

It's been a while since I watched this, and I can't honestly remember. I've seen the movie a few times, too. This question never even occurred to me before, though.

Where the heck was he before he popped up after the crash?

reply

I think hes got nine moral arguments in supreme court.

reply

He was on a rape and sexual assault spree.

reply

Bishop was in the lab dissecting a face hugger after they secured the facility, so he was seen after the Sulaco and before the drop ship crashes.

reply

The real question should be 'Why wasn't Bishop on the dropship?'.
Surely the plan was to pick up the remaining marines and leave LV426, then nuke it from orbit. Why leave Bishop at the facility and then have to go back for him?

reply

I think it was simply because he wasn't part of the squads combat personnel and just a technician. But I see what you're saying.

The dropship dropped the squad when they first arrived then left to another location. It wasn't at the same facility as Bishop.

It would make sense for them to get the survivors from the APC crash first.

reply

It wasn't at a different facility. One squad was entering the north lock and the other entered the south lock. They met up at the command centre before everyone except Bishop, Spunkmeyer and Dietrich went to the Atmosphere processing plant. Hicks requests an immediate evac, so really speaking Bishop should have gotten aboard the dropship.

reply

Bishop was doing research on the Xenomorph-Facehugger in the Medlab zone of Hadley's Hope, alone or with a handful of other personnel, during the marine ambush at the Atmosphere Processor.

reply

Isn’t the last time we see Bishop (before the drop) when he’s reversing the APC up the ramp into the dropship? Then we don’t see again until he enters the facility with one of the groups of marines. We don’t actually see him ‘during’ the drop. Maybe he stays in the APC drivers seat for the trip?

reply

The question wasn't about during the drop. It was about during the mission when the Marines got ambushed by the xenomorphs.

The OP posted, "Bishop is shown on the Sulaco with the crew before they deploy to LV-426, yet he isn’t shown again until he pops up after the drop ship crashes and they regroup back at HQ."

But that's no true. He was seen in the lab after deploying to LV-426 and before the ambush and drop ship crash.

reply

He is up on the ship. It is only after the first drop ship crashes, after the ambush, that he comes down from the main ship. Is that what you are asking?

reply

Incorrect, he came down with them with the drop.

We are shown as he is dissecting a facehugger in the lab, as the marines prepare to enter the hive. We next see him in a conversation after the dropship crash, when the survivors discuss the next steps. He volunteers to go out and call down the second dropship using a radio tower somewhere on the planetoid surface, some distance away from the main buildings of the colony.

OP has a good question: he should have been there as the rest of them, waiting for Ferro to arrive with the dropship to board it. He is not shown in that assembly scene - maybe the original plan was to pick everyone else up, then make a quick stop to pick up Bishop and the facehuggers (he would have insisted to bring them). We don't know for sure, as it was not discussed onscreen, but this is my guess as to why he was not present at the crash.

You're right, thanks.
