I lived near the Yablonski homestead.

This is one of my favorite HBO films. I lived 10 miles from the Yablonski home, and my father worked for Jock in the election which eventually cost Jock his life. How interesting to see history that I lived and knew about brought to life by such a competent cast on the small screen. It holds up well through the intervening years.

I didn't expect much from Bronson in this. Before I saw it I figured it was just a chance from him to make a another buck and keep working steadily.

I was wrong. Bronson's presence is great.

But even better is Wilfred Brimley, usually cast as a doddering oldster.

Here Brimley shows he is a TERRIFIC actor.
See the scene where Bronson confronts him in his office.

A depressing story, but much much more than I expected from an HBO "film."

Yes, Wilfred Brimley is excellent in this. It's too bad all he does now is hawk diabetes testing supplies.

I bought this film only to see Ellen Burstyn, who is excellent, but I wound up liking the whole cast and the story as well. A better-than-average cable film.
