With friends like these...

This movie is currently on netflix and I vaguely remember watching it when I was younger but as an adult...I can't believe that Dan or Debbie would be friends with these two jerks. It's clear both of them for their own selfish reasons don't want the two to be in a relationship and are doing everything they can to ruin it. Joan is defintely the worse one...I mean nothing about this girl is pleasant...

They both need to drop the toxic friends.

I also have vague memories of having seen this movie before. And I just finished watching it again. I think the two friends (Belushi and Perkins) were the best thing about this movie. They were the ones who made the movie special with their constant interfering and ill suited advice. Without them it would have been just another cheesy romantic comedy.

Yes they were part of the plot in the movie but were terrible friends

I found Bernie crude but still likable. Joan was nothing but a sourpuss, through and through. I’m surprised she even smoked weed.

Loved bernie, hated joan.

Both of the friends sucked.

However, from another perspective, Debbie was a lousy friend too. She ditched her best friend the second she found a guy. When Joan called her out on this, saying, "I'll bet you were one of those girls in high school that forgot your friends when she got a boyfriend," Debbie didn't even deny it, saying, "didn't everyone?" That's a terrible thing to do, just dump a friend because a man comes into your life. She basically forgot about her when she was dating Danny, and after they moved in together the one time you saw Joan was when she came over for Thanksgiving.

In my opinion, Debbie was lucky that Joan was still there to help her get through the breakup after Danny told her to move out.

Are you an IDIOT???? Was she supposed to not move on with her life after she found the love of her life? She met a guy, she didn't do anything wrong and she didn't drop her friend, she just moved on
