When Does Renee Lose Your Sympathy? *Spoilers, Be Warned*

Despite her being the "good" character, I found her to be as dumb as Vern cruelly calls her at one point. "Where are we going?" "Where are you taking me?" Well, duh. Sure, he's volatile, but don't make things worse by insulting him and whining, "No, I can't do it," incessantly. Thanks for confirming Vern's lazy city girl stereotype, you twit - I would have at least tried to show some understanding to calm him a bit. (After he called her a "weakling," I imagined myself climbing up at least part of the cliff without a rope just to show him!)

When King-Phillips takes off his shirt, I thought (and I never thought I would think this), "Girl, relax and enjoy the inevitable!" Would it have killed her to at least take his hand?

It's interesting that both she and Joe are blondes - Vern is dark-haired, with the implication that he resembles his lush mother, and is looking to Renee to be different. I picked up on this, but she does not! She offers him money without any sense of how absurd that is.

Then she calls Vern and Joe "animals" for their lifestyle. I literally gasped. (Frankly, I don't know why calling anyone an "animal" should be an insult, though - you don't see them screwing each other over for a dollar. But I digress.)

But when she runs toward the poachers to escape - that was when I no longer cared about her. Ugh! Unbelievable!

Vern was violent and wrong, but she was a shallow idiot!

I remember watching this movie back in the late 80's and early 90's on USA Network. Plus, I also remember watching this on USA UP ALL NIGHT as well back in the day. I loved watching this movie here.

I felt bad for the young woman for being kidnapped but as you said she became a pain also with her whinning that she did in the movie.

Dedicated to USA UP ALL NIGHT and the fans! http://usaupallnight.webs.com

Yes I do agree with you on what you are saying about Renee. Though like Joe was telling Renee that he is a bit more peaceful living out in the woods away from people. She sounds like she was in college and ready to sign up from what she was telling Joe.

I enjoyed watching this movie for the first time in years. They left the ending wide open because it does not show if she had made it back home safely.
