I really love the random slices of life you get (directors cut version). The little quirky insights like the police rookie, garbage truck men, traffic officer, police writer etc. Such incredible writing serving no purpose other than to embellish this beautiful film.

I disagree with the OP's advocation about all "the little slices of life we see". Certainly watching the director's cut, so many of them, just appeared to be padding and virtually divorced from the main storyline, or inserted as a contrivance to get Zorg/Betty out of trouble (the cop - writer tragic).🐭 share
I agree. I dont even know if the story got me so much but just their acting and like you said...their chemistry! I'm literally in love with both of them now bc of this movie. Its hard to find a lot of their films though sadly
