Did anyone else find this show creepy?

Something about adults dressed up like animals just came off as creep to me. Plus, the lighting was always kind of dark, so it seemed like it was meant for adults more than kids. All that said, yes, Whuzzit was pretty hot.

yeah u rite, it did look pretty creepy. I had a couple nightmares about it back when I was about 4 years old. But yeah the girl in the pinkish costume was hot I remember.

Let me tell ya something, until I was about 7 or so, I would have nightmares about these things I called "animal people". They eventually stopped and I completely forgot about them until about a year ago, I was searching shows I watched in the late '80s and early '90s. I found a link to the intro and the second I saw the characters I almost fell out of my seat. It was very surreal to see that again, since it had been about 18 years since I had seen it. I remember the parrot/man very well but I did recognize all of them.
To answer your question, I did/do find this show extremely creepy, it's something I look up sometimes when I'm in the need of a good scare and adrenaline rush...

"This scar is a fleck on my porcelain skin, tried to reach deep but you couldn't get in..."

reply

Soooo creepy. But it was one of those things that you just couldn't stop watching.

I found the cockatoo creepy. She looked like my evil grandmother and even had a beak nose.

I remember being scared that Bravo Fox would try to "offer me candy" or give a "bad touch". He was just freaky like that. I loved Whazzat Kangaroo though, I thought she was so pretty and I wanted to be like her. I also thought the cockatoo would be like maniacal, and crazy.

reply

I thought it was very creepy, esp that episode with the puppets... and the bunch of bushes that they showed during the opening credits, I used to think it was a dead body, cause some of them were pink and some were brown and it looked like a person to me

reply

yes this scared me.

Good goodness! Now I know the point where imagination stopped and horror began!

So sorry to read about all these tramatic experiences with these characters. Personally, I found them endearing -- but then again, I grew up in New York and I watched Chiller and Creature Double Feature from 3 to 9 years old. So these things did not scare me in the least.

"The Rice Krispies are telling me what to do!"

reply

YES! Other than that it was about animals the only thing I actually rememebered about this show was how much it creeped me out.

That and turning off the tv and running from the room every time it came on...

reply

The show's a little eerie in retrospect b/c of the existence of furries...now THOSE FOLKS are creepy, so anytime I see adults dressed as animals these days it gives me pause. But as a kid this show did not scare me at all...and I liked Whazzit, too. She was way cute..and I loved her voice.

reply

Are you kidding?! I LOVED this show as a kid! Loved it so much, my dad made a VHS of episodes to sate my sister and I's demand. Which has now been turned into a DVD. I can still sing the opening theme from memory.

Chase: Wow. Yeah, I get it. House is adorable. I just want to hold him and never let go.
