Prescient view of Dystopia

A Very Peculiar Practice is kind of 1948 takes over the tertiary education sector. A warning against the dangers of commercialisation & foreign takeover of the British university sphere. Earnest young doctor (Davison) stumbles into a bewildering world of medico misfits, unethical administrators & military types, mysterious nuns & other oddballs. Weirdest character is Bob Buzzard (Troughton), a foolish technocratic doctor with an uncritically trusting view of 'progress' as unfettered privatisation. Ace screenwriter Andrew Davies creates a very bleak sardonically funny dystopian world - a little reminiscent of Britannia Hospital.
