Online reviews that are missing

I think the At The Movies site is really cool with all of its archived reviews, though it is annoying because of some of the videos that are missing. I heard that their "Free Willy" disagreement is a funny one, but it's nowhere to be found online. Also missing are "Home Alone 2", "Bright Lights Big City," "Born on the Fourth of July," "Muppet Christmas Carol" and quite a few others. I also wonder why certain reviews like "Little Man Tate" freeze up and won't play all the way through.

You're right, I do like their website because of their archived videos which includes "Siskel & Ebert". I too wish their were other reviews available on there. Even "Cliffhanger" and "Aladdin" had their videos freeze up too and I wanted to see the rest of those reviews. However, I was more surprised when one review of "Over the Top" was found and that was back in November, 2009.

The Kick Ass review isn't on the website. I taped that show, but the damn Lakers came went into overtime. I wonder what rating they gave it.

I loved the one about Muppet Christmas Carol, especially the clip where Scrooge threatens to fire the rat bookkeepers and they all start singing Island in the Sun.

i really wanted to see reviews of 'Requiem for a Dream' and 'Eyes Wide Shut'.

If I remember correctly, the Eyes Wide Shut review was part of a Stanley Kubrick retrospective episode that had 4 or 5 guest critics talking about their favorite Kubrick film.

There is no review up for "Street Fighter: The Movie," the "classic" JCVD videogame adaption.

The review for "Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers" leads to an infinite "coming soon" stream that has been there since the beginning of time. I remember Siskel saying something to the likes of "Compared to the Power Rangers, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are intellectual geniuses," and was hoping to find the exact quote, but it looks like that will never be.

It seems lots of the old S&E reviews are missing, like "Do the Right Thing", in addition to the ones you mentioned. Maybe it has something to do with the changes that occurred when they replaced Roeper with the two Bens a couple of years ago; maybe one of the changes was to stop adding any more old S&E reviews to the site.

reply

Yeah, a lot of reviews are missing. It was such a colossal project to try and get 26 years of reviews (over 5,000!) it's understandable some are missing.

I seriously doubt they'll keep the website up for much longer, maybe until the New Year.

Glad I'm not crazy. There were tons of reviews I wanted to see again or stuff I missed in the first place during the 80s that aren't there. I didn't know why. It's sad..

I've actually found more stuff on YouTube with ease than the official site. Stuff going back to the early 80s with Sneak Previews.

I don't know if there would be much demand, and there may be rights issues between Disney and the Eberts, but I personally would love a Disney released DVD set going from 1986-2010. I had electrical problems last year and lost a DVR that had At the Movies from parts of 2007, 2008 and early 2009 deleted for good.

I really would've liked to see them review Fast Times at Ridgemont High. Ebert said it was a new take on high school life, but he called it a scuz pit of a film. Would love to hear Siskel talk about it.

I can't find their Star Trek II review.....I seem to remember they liked it.

I also would like to see their Firefox (1982) review again. I seem to remember Roger liked it.....can't remember what Gene said.
