Dreamcasting the SilverHawks movie

Let's face it, a movie is going to happen. Anyone with any doubt should just look at the trend we're facing. Transformers is happening, and Thundercats is in motion. SilverHawks can't be far behind. I think it would be nice to start throwing out suggestions for who would do well as the metal-clad law enforcers of Limbo.

These are my suggestions. Anyone has the privelege and freedom to disagree and recommend others.

Commander Stargazer - Michael Chiklis
Quicksilver - James Marsden
Bluegrass - Nicolas Cage
Steelheart - Rachel McAdams
Steelwill - Brandon Molale
Copperkid - Haley Joel Osment

Mon*Star - Tim Curry
Yessman - Steve Buscemi
Windhammer - Hugo Weaving
Melodia - Britney Spears

That last one was a joke . . . any messed up chick would be a great Melodia though.

reply

Hey newsfop, nice casting call!!! Couldn't agree more... Even though I would NOT cast Nick Cage in this! I believe he could not act like Bluegrass... And if he did, then the producers would make the movie around him, since he is Nickolas Cage after all... LOL: Steve Buscemi as Yessman xaxaxa, The guy was born for this role!!! I belive that Mambo Jambo & "The-Slithe-lookalike-dude" should be computer animated. Oh! And as for Melodia how 'bout Paris Hilton... Sorry man, that was a joke too ;D

Come on guys, any suggestions for a messed up chick who would be a great Melodia!?!

reply

I think in his younger years, Val Kilmer might have been able to pull off a Bluegrass. Now . . . probably not. He's put on the chunk.

Who do you think would do well with the spritely southerner w/ none too much to tamper with his good spirits?

reply

Good job, newsfop!

For Bluegrass, I like Billy Bob Thornton maybe (Though he might be a little too old)... And I'd like to nominate Gene Hackman for Stargazer, who I see as old and crusty just like Hackman .

'Cuz there's thunder in your heart... Every move is like lightning!

reply

Oh God! How could I have looked past a shining jewel like Gene Hackman!!! Of course! It's so obvious I should be bludgeouned with a 2x4!

I disagree on Billy Bob though. He would have been great about 10 years ago. He's putting on the wrecked southerner image now and looks a bit worse for wear.

I have to imagine there's some great untapped talent that would do Bluegrass justice.

To whoever asked the question, I tend to balance looks and voice for my dreamcasting decision. I don't go for Orlando Bloom in every hunky young man role and hot chick du jour for every lead actress position.

Yeah when I saw the commercial for Billy Bob's new movie 'Mr. Woodcock' I went back to the drawing board ... Next I came up with Owen Wilson for Bluegrass, then a few days later he almost died of a drug overdose... Apparently there's a "Bluegrass" curse of some sort .

I do like Owen for the part when he gets back on his feet.

’Cause there’s thunder in your heart... Every move is like lighning!

reply

What about the kid in Slingblade and that TV series American Gothic where he played the character Caleb. Ain't he grown up by now? Would he work for Bluegrass?

reply

Boy you know I haven’t seen that kid in anything since Slingblade (Some folks call it a Kaiserblade. I call it a Slingblade, Mm-hmm). I’m not sure what he’s doing these days.

It dawned on me that they usually insist that a ‘big star’ be in these kinds of films and so with some trepidation I think I must nominate Matthew McConaughey for Bluegrass.

’Cause there’s thunder in your heart... Every move is like lighning!

reply

Oh hey! Now McConaughey could work out pretty well. He's got the accent for the part. He's got the playful appeal of a easy-goin' feller. I like that. Good idea.

reply

As long as he keeps his shirt on for a change, I'm game .

’Cause there’s thunder in your heart... Every move is like lighning!

reply

Well, essentially none of them are really wearing any clothes escept for Bluegrass who has a scarf and a hat when they're not being briefed at Hawk Haven.

reply

Actually, he might have the shirt off, but it would be a set of metal pectorals that ladies get to see and not meaty ta-tas.

reply

Will Patton would be great as Bluegrass. His role in Armegeddon showed the right attitude and character. His looks are a little off though. There's the problem: do you cast for looks or character?

reply

The choice for MonStar was perfect in my opinion. Also you can't forget Hardware and Molecular as two of the villains. Those two with Melodia, Windhammer, and another mob member such as Mumbo Jumbo or Buzzsaw or Poker Face would be good. Of course you can't forget yes man.

reply

If we're going to do it, let's do it!!

THE SILVERHAWKS:

Gene Hackman - Commander Stargazer
Leonardo DiCaprio - Captain Johnathan Quick/Quicksilver
Rachel McAdams - Lt Emily Hart/Steelheart
Tom Welling - Lt William Hart/Steelwill
Daeg Faerch - The Copper Kid
Matthew McConaguhey - Colonel Bluegrass

THE MOB:

Tim Curry - Mon-Star The Planet Master
Wallace Shawn - Hardware
Scott Speedman - Windhammer
Hugo Weaving - Molecular
Steve Buscemi - Yes-Man
Tyler Mane - Buzzsaw
Bill Goldberg - Mumbo Jumbo
Robert Patrick - Pokerface
Pink - Melodia

Tallyhawk would be CGI of course.

reply

Excellent job, filmspectrum! That is the cast right there.

’Cause there’s thunder in your heart... Every move is like lightning!

reply

I kiss you in a strictly Italian man to man way. That is a brilliant lineup right there. However, I see that Time Stopper's been left off the list. If he were to be cast, I'd go with that chubby kid from Two and a Half Men in a couple years. LOL!!!!!

reply

How about James Caviezel for Quicksilver/Jonathan Quick?

reply

Or Joaquin Phoenix

Wow, that's a perfect choice.

reply

Wow, that's a perfect choice.

Thanks.

reply

All great choices. All I have to say is if they make this movie and mess it up I will be really pissed. They have so far ruined most of my favorite childhood cartoons and if they mess this one up I'll be pissed!

reply

How about Peter Weller for Commander Stargazer?

reply

Not bad but Gene Hackman is a better pick.

reply

[deleted]

Christopher Judge for Hotwing

reply

BTW, is James Tolkan still working? If so, he'd probably make a good Stargazer as well.

reply

I think James did retire after 2006. He would be my second choice for Stargazer, Michael Chiklias would be my first choice though, I liked him in the Shield.

reply

Chikilis as Stargazer might work.

reply

& Tim Curry for Mon-star

reply

Having now almost finished Season 1: Vol 1 on DVD, I have to say that for me Jim Caviezel is the only choice for Quicksilver.

Wow, that's a perfect choice.

Completely agree with you.

reply

Commander Stargazer - James McDaniel (perfect fit for the character, when we ignore the skintone difference)
(NOTE*** James Tolkan, principal from Back to the Future would have been perfect, back in the 80's).
Quicksilver - Mark Harmon
Bluegrass - Ben Browder or Tim DeKay
Steelheart - Masiela Lusha
Steelwill - Alan Ritchson
Copperkid - Jaden Smith

Mon*Star - Cliff Simon or Rip Torn(Although most of Mon*Star would be computer generated)
Yessman - John Leguizamo or Willie Garson
Windhammer - Rene Auberjonois
Melodia - Maggie Wheeler (was the original voice and played Janice on Friends, hasn't lost her touch or looks since so why not?)
Buzz Saw - Computer generated
Mumbo Jumbo - Computer generated
Hardware - Bob Hoskins
Mo-Lec-U-lar - Ryan Robbins

Seymour - Wayne Knight

IN SEQUAL
Hotwing (Gold Silver hawk)- Michael Boatman or Christopher Judge

reply

Gene Hackman as Stargazer (coincidentally I had the same thought)

I agree that Nicolas Cage is SPOT ON for Bluegrass

If the film was made about 5 years ago Carrie Ann Moss and Billy Bob Thorton would suit PERFECTLY the characters of Steelheart and Steelwill.

Quicksilver is a tough one . I guess Hugh Jackman would fit the role .

Most of the villains would definitely be CGI (like Mambo Jumbo or the Buzzsaw robot ) Other villains would be motion captured like Monstarr or Yessman

I can picture Alan Cumming as Yessman .

Monstar is a tough one . I guess a voice would have to be firm and threatening like James Earl Jones . As for a stand in : I guess the guy who played the Silver Surfer would do the job .

Cillian Murphy as Windhammer (think of him with long hair)

Danny De Vito with a heavy dose of make up as Hardware

Melodia is also a tough one : I guess Anjelina Jolie or Milla Yovovich would be adequate .

Cameos from other characters ?

Mel Gibson as Condor (add some grey hair)

Denzel Washington as Hotwing

James Marsden as Flashback

Actually, call me nuts, but I think Amanda Bynes could do it. As of late, with all the crazy wigs she's been putting on (just look at her courtroom appearances), a few of them made me think that she looks like Melodia. Just put on a colred wig, colored shades, and strap on a guitar, and VOILA! Melodia!

Now if she can only get her act together and.... nevermind.
