Best Holmes ever!

This guy kicks ass as Sherlock.

reply

Totally! I'm rewatching the show right now.

He's fantastic, he does a great job with both the arrogance and slightly crazy/psychopathic nature of Holmes' character.

reply

Simply the best - I recently saw in a documentary that he even added Victorian stage mannerisms to Holmes!

I'm looking forward to seeing all of the Sherlock Holmes portrayals ever in the forthcoming documentary 'The Film & Television History of Sherlock Holmes':-

STOP HUMPING SHERLOCK HOLMES!

It looks like 'The Film & Television History of Sherlock Holmes' project has been dropped as it has disappeared from my list. That's a pity as I was looking forward to that.

Brett was a great Holmes. So was Basil Rathbone; unfortunately, he was hampered in most of the Holmes movies by hack scripts and a dopey Watson as comic relief (fault of the writers, not Nigel Bruce). If only Rathbone (and Bruce) had had the advantages Brett (and David Burke, and Edward Hardwicke) had--top-notch writing based on original Doyle stories, and a serious Watson.
