What happened to the Drummer boy and Lt. Rudy Bodford?

Maybe I missed one of the scenes that showed what happened to them.But I swear the drummer boy wasnt heard from again.
And was Lt. Rudy Bodford killed in the last battle scene?
By the way, the dude who played Lt. Rudy Bodford was in Bachelor Party.haha.

Billy visited him in the field hospital and told him after he goes to visit Brett he would come back for him.
