When will this be released on DVD?

I am such a big fan of this show, and saw it when it originally aired. It would be great to have the entire show on DVD.

Yeah, it was funny! Too bad, Rebeckah Schaeffer wasn't killed, the show probably would've aired from 1986-1992 or something like that.

reply

Nah. Poor ratings killed this show, not the death of Schaeffer. Don't get your hopes up about this dud being released on DVD.

reply

At least you have your facts straight on why the show was cancelled. But this was a fun, family show that entertained many people back in the day, me being one of them. I really wish they would release it on DVD soon. It astonishes me that there are shows out there being released on DVD everyday that are just horrible and shouldn't have been made in the first place! This show deserves to be released and enjoyed again!

Rumor has it that the pilot episode is included in the season 1 DVD set of Murphy Brown.

The rumor I posted turned out to be true. I bought the Murphy Brown set today. The bonus disc was in there. You'll really have to look hard, though. Only copies produced in 2005 have it. There will be a sticker on the shrink wrap promoting a rebate. On the sticker, it says "bonus disc included." The disc also features "Room for Two" with Linda Lavin and Patricia Heaton.

How is it that a show like "Tabitha" that only had twelve episodes is on DVD, but "My Sister Sam" which ran for 44 episodes isn't?

reply

It probably has something to do with "Tabitha" being a spin-off of "Bewitched." Still, I see your point, and I hope that they do put "My Sister Sam" on DVD.

You are probably right. It says TV-Series 1986-1988. She died in 1989.

reply

She died as the result of a crazy fan falling for her as a result of her character, and being rejected. But the show was killed by Wonder Years, and then moved to cable, but maybe only in reruns, I didn't have cable at the time. I think it's a much better series than a lot of crap being released on DVD - and I hope it's released and soon!

reply

I would love to see this on DVD as well. Since there was only two seasons, I could see both seasons being released at once and having the "My Sister Sam: The Complete Series" title.

reply

I agree, this show really needs to be on DVD. Me and some girlfriends were talking this afternoon about it and wishing we could watch it again and introduce their daughters to the show.

fingers crossed!

Click on the 'Buy it at Amazon' button up at the top of the "My Sister Sam" main page here and you can sign up to be notified when it's released to DVD. I think by doing this, someone, somewhere keeps a tally of people who sign up, indicating the title's popularity. The more people that sign up, the better chance "My Sister Sam" has of being released.

I remember being a fan of the show and Rebecca Schaeffer. I hope they release they release it on DVD someday. Perhaps this year would not be ideal since it's the 20th anniversary of Schaeffer's death (I only say that because it might be in poor taste). But perhaps next year. And I agree, a complete series box set would be great.

It's unbelievable that it looked at this today. The DVD set was available until today on Amazon.
