Anyone knows something about this Anime?

For now, this seems to be a very, very good, if not a great TV show, and I'm surprised that no one knows something about it.

"Maison Ikkoku" was apparently very famous in Japan, and there for it's pretty unusual that there are no western fans of it. Has anyone seen this?

I'm watching it through fansubs. It's for me one of the best animes ever made. If you want more info on it I recommend you visiting www.anidb.net

It's... amazing.... Whether you read the manga or watch the anime, they are amazing. Her work on this is much better than on Inu Yasha, or even dare I say Ranma 1/2.

All 3 seasons of the anime are out on really cheap DVD box sets now and will keep you laughing for ever. They're big here, but since it's pretty old school, only the old school fans are familiar with it.

I highly recommend it to you.

Can't say I saw other animes made by Rumiko Takahashi until now but I do know that her other works have either other age targets or genere. My sugestion is to watch this in the best of conditions because there aren't many stories like this one out there. Correct me if I'm wrong but I have never seen a non-anime movie/series that rises to this level. And Kimagure Orange Road doesn't count since my brain would have to melt if I were to compare these two (love them both to much)... And do as "japanfan 02" says, buy it because it is worth it, BIG TIME.

I used to read the comics when they were released by Viz back in the 90s. The show used to be available as a fan-sub, but at 90 episodes (with 4 episodes per tape), it could take up a lot of space and cost a lot in shipping.

This show has been translated into French, Spanish, and a few other languages - and it aired on television! It's only here in North America that it didn't get the respect it deserves.

DVD box sets of the show have been available for several years, though they're getting harder to find now. (vols. 2-7 can be tracked down online without much effort, but 1 and 8 are a real pain to locate.)

And yes, it's an incredible, incredible show.

For me, it was volume 5 that was kind of hard to find (got it used for 30 bucks) and volume 7 was the costliest at 70. Everything else fell between 20-30 dollars. Twose two volumes set me back at 100. New box sets would've cost me this much... and I can forget about getting Video Girl Ai, which goes for 50 dollars (used!). I might as well download it if sellers are gonna charge that much.

I think it's fantastic. I have watched the whole 96 episode run, and read the monthly comics when it first came out. In fact I still have every one of them, as I have read it at least 3 times from beginning to end.
