Are there any Lovejoy DVDs yet?

I adored the Lovejoy series, and can't wait to get my hands on some DVDs, especially the first series which I don't think has been repeated.
That's where the intoduction has the words "Sold to Lovejoy" at thepoint where the glass on the picture breaks.
Anyone know of a fan site or other discussion group?

The first series has just got a release date on DVD on the 17th of May. Try this link:-
http://www.bbcshop.com/invt/94038
It will be Region 2 from here, presume there will be Region 1 and further series to follow I hope. I feel like I've been waiting years for this - I have!!
I WILL BE BUYING IT!! Happy viewing.

(Suppose there will be more chance of further series on DVD if this one sells well enough. So let's get buying fellow Lovejoy fans and tell your friends....)

For those in region 1, give this a try.

Go to the BBC America site http://www.bbcamericashop.com/default.asp
and in the search section type lovejoy, select dvd for format.

Click on the "Lovejoy: The complete collection" and it'll send you
to a screen that has another link to send a request. I have a feeling
they might (the bbc) be using this to guage interest in a region 1
release.

If you visit, in the UK, a branch of Ethel Austins you will sometimes find, as I did, virtually all the Lovejoy episodes available on DVD at a not unreasonable price.

Best episode had to be 2 parter "Riding in Rollers/Black Virgin of Vladimir". Superb scam and a cast list of great guest players including Brian Blessed, Linda Gray, Mako and James Booth.

Hi,

I moved to the USA from the UK and noticed the sets listed on Amazoon.co.uk. I ordered the sets even though I was sure that I couldn't play them until I either bought a multi-region DVD player or changed the region setting on my wife's computer.

Out of curiosity I tried the first series on my wife's computer and was pleasantly surprised to see that the DVDs played - even when I hadn't changed the region setting on my wife's computer. I then checked the back of the boxes and they are all region 0 DVDs.

The DVDs will not play on the American television system as America uses NTSC and the UK uses PAL. However you may be able to play the DVDs on your personal computer.

So until the DVDs are released in the NTSC format for the United States you can watch the DVDs on your computer without having to change the settings.

By the way if you order from Amazon.co.uk and ship to the United States then you will receive a discount as they remove the tax on the DVD so you can save a little on the listed price.

I hope this helps.

you can also get standalone dvd players that will convert the video from pal to ntsc

Philips DVP 642 is a very cheap player ($49.99 at Amazon & Circuit City) that will play the dvds, it can also be made region free. (BTW it plays divx and xvid too)

Are you SURE these wont play on a normal DVD player? Try it out. A DVD is an encoded mpeg2, the player handles decoding it to whatever format it supports.
