This Isn't the One...


There was a version done when I was a child in the 70s that was as faithful as you could possibly imagine - it might have been a British production but played on PBS. I positively adored that one and can't even find anyone who has ever heard of it. Most certainly predates this one, but of course long after the Shirley Temple travesty lol.

It was a miniseries of maybe 3 or 4 parts. If anyone comes across that one, please do let me know. It focused more on the things that mattered more to me - such as Becky, the starving orphan, etc. It was likely the early part of the 70s - I'd almost say I saw it on "The Children's Film Festival" with Kookla Fran and Ollie but I'm pretty sure it was PBS (and definitely British) because it was my mother who told me it was coming on, and she paid no attention to CFF.
