I have just finished reading the comments and felt that I had to reply to the fact that people are saying this movie is too long. In the UK it was originally aired as a series on a Sunday afternoon, although I cannot remember how many episodes there were. I loved this and we sat round as a family to watch before we had our evening meal.
shareYou're quite correct Lisa! I was unfortunate enough to have missed the first few episodes, but saw the remainder. I think it was shown over 6 weeks, though I may be wrong. I wish that they'd show it over here in Australia, I'd love my daughters to see it.
shareI wish the movie was longer, lol!!! It is a great movie, and I think only those who really appreciate a good story would not feel that it is too long. Even as a teenager I loved this movie, and that was at a time when my attention span was required a constant effort on my part to pay attention. As I've said before, this movie is a classic and I hope and pray that it comes to DVD!

shareI remember watching this on PBS when I was a kid. I loved it. I didn't mind that it was long.
shareToo long? I have read so many complaints from viewers about how short many book adaptations are. I saw one adaptation of David Copperfield that was 2 hours in run time. The abrupt scene shifts in this presentation was like seeing the novel fly by at the speed of light. In one scene David is talking to Dora and then a few minutes later is she is dead (with no death scene). I would much prefer a fuller complete story adaptation than an abridged one.
