I read the novel during exam week in college, and I was swept away in the fantasy (I tend not to read fiction novels, preferring text books, history, contemporary thought, etc...). It was a very refreshing diversion.
Would love to see it if it exists out there, somewhere...

Funny enough they played these miniseries the day after Xmas three years in a row on one rather good russian tv channel. it's interesting wether they'll show it this year...
