A little help w/ an unknown episode, plz

I believe it was the 1st AotGR episode I ever saw. I was pretty young, but all i remeber about the episode was a really important intelligent (alien?)prisoner was being transported on a spaceship. the prisoner was secured in a chair & used a laser hidden under his fingernail to break through his restraints.

It's possible this scene was from another cartoon (maybe the Mighty Orbots), but to this day i remember how impressed i was with that scene & that episode. Does this sound familiar to anyone?
