Michelle is kind of a hypocrite

"I wanna make it without my dad's help." Yet she pawns that ring he gave her for her birthday (which was a family heirloom) to put money down on her lease.

So much for making it without his help. I know in the end she accepts his help so she won't have to work so much and miss school, but still.

Glad he got it back because there would be no way she could get it back within a year, going to school, paying bills and working at a doughnut shop.

P.S. wasn't that illegal of her boss to get her to miss school to work? Michelle was probably afraid she'd fire her if she said no.

You make some good points. I thought that was a really unhealthy scenario for her, as was demonstrated when she ended up overdosing on diet pills. but she had to learn the hard way I guess. I guess now that I'm around their parent's age I can see how stupid and clueless they were. LIke when her and BLT were talking about how now they'd be able to spend all this time together with her own place. Like money was just going to fall out of the sky and she wouldn't have to work long hours to pay for her place and other bills.
I posted a thread here years ago about the dunkin doughnuts lady. I guess technically not dunkin doughnuts but basically the same thing. I felt she should've been brought up on charges. She was trying to coerce a high school kid to miss school and tests because she needed her at her stupid little doughnuts place where she was making minumum wage. First time I saw that episode my jaw dropped when she said "can't you miss school, we really need you here." To me that is sick, immoral and illegal, and there should be repercussions for that sort of thing. ANd it that end of her long day she says, "you did good today". Gee I guess that makes it all worth while to miss tests and compromise your grades and future. Miss Dunkin doughnuts thinks you did good. Isn't that special. And her comments about "why should I hire you", and "I've hired teenagers before and have not had much luck". what is she used to getting middle aged career dunkin doughnuts workers who have kids to support? Those jobs are always teenagers that do it. She acted like that stupid doughnut place was the most important thing in the world and she thought she was such a bigshot like a CEO of a large corporation. Talk about delusions of grandeur. Out of sheer principal I wanted to see her in jail.

Agreed 100%.

I also love when Michelle is working and her dad comes to talk to her, her boss reminds her it's a business and not to take too long, then proceeds to serve her and her dad a cup of coffee and a doughnut each. Wow.

That was a nicely written response! The donut woman is a cow for sure

Thanks I forgot about that post. Wow I really went on a rant there 

Hahahahaha don't worry I do the same sometimes. I really sit here and analyse a movie or a television show and forget about the post 😝

Slight correction: they were caffeine pills to help her stay awake for studying.

That also happened to one of my roommates in university. She was working at a women's clothing store while going to school. She gave the management her time table that she absolutely could not work...because she had classes.

Well, one week, the schedule came out, and she was scheduled to work when she was at school!

Their spiel was...."Well...you can miss it this ONE time, can't you?"

I don't know if it's illegal. It's immoral (to me). I think they have to give you enough notice. However, if she presented her scheduled to management, they should know not to give her a shift while she's at school.

About notice: That happened to me once. I worked at a fast food joint for 2 summers when I was home. One time, I got a call, wanting to know if I could work the midnight shift. Midnight shift started at 12:00am. They called at 5:00pm.
I was at my other job at the time, and I wasn't done until 5:30. There would be no time to grab supper, and grab a sleep before I would go in.

I feared they were either going to fire me. OR, in a future shift, put me on a station that NO ONE likes to do.

I told a co-worker about it, and she told me, by law, that they needed to give a full shift's notice.
