Is this as good as Miami Vice?

I am a huge Miami Vice fan. A buddy of mine just told me that some of the creators of Miami Vice went to this as their next project. I think I have to try it out.

I loved it. We just bought the dvds and I'd forgotten what a great Sixties feel it has.

It's also cool that you get to see some actors before they became widely popular.

It rivals as being the best show that Michael Mann put out second to Miami Vice. Imo ofcourse! Im too a MV fan.

Its not as good as Miami Vice because of its 60s setting it had to do with fixed sets and lacked the variety that vice offered.

Much better than MV which was stylish and entertaining, but otherwise rather watered down, cheesy and overpolished for easy consumption.

No comparison - MV was a glitzy semi soap opera. Another big plus for CS - no Don Johnson.

On the other hand, the MV stories were individual stories for the most part - and thus integrated to that extent. CS was all over the place - discontinuities in the story line - repeat footage like crazy. CS COULD have been a far better show with tighter scripts. editing, internal criticsm, etc.

Miami Vice doesn't deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence as Crime Story. I rate it a 5-6. Crime Story, I have no trouble giving a 9 rating to. Just my personal opinion, of course.
