Is there any way to find out the title of the slow dance at the block party?

I'm getting ahead of myself a bit here, but in an interesting turn...

In "The Pinnacle" episode, there's a polka band named Rotondi.

The lead singer, Anthony Patellis, has since appeared on "The Sopranos", and the bass player, Pete Curry, currently plays with 60s-inspired rock band Los Straitjackets.

The name of the band is the Dion Payton Blues Band. Dion was based out of Chicago but he did venture out on the road occasionally. I saw him live in New York City in the mid 90's. The song in the slow dance scene was probably one of his original compositions.

Does anyone know which song opens and closes the episode "Abrams for the Defense" I'ts not sweet home chicago. The lyrics go "I'm comin home sweet baby I'm comin home" "I'm comin home sweet baby I'm comin home" "Been gone too long" "I'm comin Home" I would really appreciate any information on the title and the artist. I can't find it in itunes or on the internet anywhere. Thanks.

reply

Hard to say, because that song's been dubbed over the tune that was originally played during the episode. It very well could have been a throwaway sound-alike tune.

No problem! If you have the DVD, then compare the Miles Davis scene with this version of the tune. It is Marcus Miller who co-wrote, co-produced and performed on the album performing a live version of the tune. Enjoy!

Hello, I'making my personal collection of songs from CS, according to You great and blessed ;) list. But I'm not veri good knower (ist there this word in english?) of 50th-60th music.
So, I got two questions:

"Satin Doll" og jazz gitar in Ep. 12 - can it be Joe Pass?

"You Got Me Runnin’" by Jimmy Reed in Ep. 2 - is it "You got me DIZZY", or this is different piece?

Many thanks for Your list, man!

reply

The Jimmy Reed song is actually 'Baby What You Want Me To Do' - thanks for pointing that out; I made the change to the listing.

I'll have to compare the Joe Pass version to the one in the episode but you may be right!
